چکیده
Background and purpose We evaluated muscle echointensity as a marker for secondary axonal damage in patients with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) using ultrasonography. Findings were correlated clinical disability muscular strength. Methods Eighty CIDP (40 typical 40 atypical CIDP) examined clinically, including assessment of Medical Research Council (MRC) sum score Inflammatory Neuropathy Cause Treatment Overall Disability Sum Score (INCAT-ODSS). Echointensity eight proximal distal muscles the arms legs was by ultrasonography Heckmatt scale. Results Alterations occurred most frequently leg muscles, median (range) 1.5 (1–4). There no differences between regard to score. The arm INCAT-ODSS (r = 0.23, p 0.046) scores 0.34, 0.002) 0.33, 0.004). MRC score, well individual corresponding groups ?0.25, 0.02 score). Conclusion Increased echointensity, reflecting fibrosis fatty infiltration due damage, strength large cohort patients. occur both are pronounced muscles.

Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP) is a rare neurological disease. Definitive therapy is not yet established. We report our use of intravenous Immunoglobulin (iv IgG) in two cases of CIDP and review the therapeutic options available. Intravenous IgG is a ubiquitous practical treatment particularly in patients who do not respond to steroids and where a rapid response is req...

Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) is an acquired immune-mediated disease of the peripheral nervous system with a prevalence of 1-2/100,000. Clinical and experimental findings suggest a role of immune pathomechanisms;however, the target antigens are still unknown. Beside classic CIDP with symmetrical proximal and distal paresis, subgroups of CIDP with pure motor or sensory...

The association of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) and carcinoma has rarely been reported and its relevance is debated. Thirty three consecutive patients with probable or definite CIDP (idiopathic or associated with M protein) were investigated. Three patients with definite CIDP had a concomitant carcinoma. One had an IgM paraprotein. Steroids and intravenous immunoglob...

Threshold tracking was used to compare excitability properties (stimulus-response curves, strength-duration properties, recovery cycle and threshold electrotonus) of the median nerve in 11 patients with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) and 25 healthy controls. Stimulus-response curves were significantly different: threshold was much higher, the slope of the curves reduce...
